Jessica and Seth’s nuptials were a perfect Southern affair. A traditional church wedding in front of 250 family and friends followed by a white tent reception outdoors in the heart of Tennessee where guests danced the night away and celebrated the happy couple. With photos captured by Kristin Vanzant Photography, it was the quintessentially perfect.
Now for the proposal… details!
Seth was doing a rotation in Virginia. I had driven up for the weekend to see him. We were going to spend the weekend in DC. On our drive up, he wanted to stop off at Mount Vernon. We stopped off by the water and we were walking on a beautiful trail when he took me aside and got down on one knee. It was perfect. Seth said I said yes before he even gave me the ring.
We want to know about all the wedding details, was it small and intimate or big and traditional?
The wedding was very big and pretty traditional. We had a huge wedding party (9 bridesmaids and 9 groomsmen). The wedding was in the church I grew up in and the pastor was my cousin, Steve, which made it even more special. We then went to the reception where we had a white tent and the most perfect summer evening. We all danced the night away.
Tell us about your wedding gown and what your bridal party wore.
I wore an ivory lace Lazaro gown that I bought at Brides by Lori in Atlanta. It was drop-waist and sweetheart neck. I had a cathedral length veil that I adored. For my something old, I wore the same shoes my mom wore at her wedding. The bridesmaids wore floor length, sweetheart strapless satin gowns (Jim Hjelm) in candlelight/ champagne. Seth and the groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos with bow ties.
Can you give us an overview of the event?
We wanted our wedding to be a huge celebration with all of our friends and family. I always wanted to get married in the church I grew up in with a white tent reception. It was everything I could ever imagine and more!
Was there a specific theme or style?
I wanted it to be romantic, elegant, and classic.
What were your playful twists that made the event unique?
All of the bridesmaids spent the day getting ready at my parent’s house. We had hair and make-up there and food brought in. It was amazing spending that precious time with my favorite people!
What was the most memorable moment?
My most memorable moment was seeing Seth before the wedding. We also read to each other our own vows. It was so special and that precious time alone truly gave us the time to just focus on the most important part.
Tell us about the food and desserts.
We had a beautiful buffet with prime rib, chicken, salad, and lots of vegetables. It was perfect. I loved my wedding cake, classic and showered with our beautiful flowers. Seth loved his University Of Kentucky Groom’s cake.
What kind of energy did your entertainment give the guests?
Super T was absolutely amazing. Everyone was dancing all night long! Could not imagine a better band. My favorite part was having all of the bridesmaids up on stage dancing. They were incredible.
If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
Nothing. It was amazing and perfect.
What was the best wedding advice you received?
Take some time to spend alone with Seth. Don’t get too caught up if everything doesn’t go just as planned, just let it flow! It will be better than expected that way.
