The adorable Katherine and Max aren’t your ordinary couple. They “met” via Facebook after a mutual friend suggested the match. Max proposed to Katherine at the end of a strenuous South Carolina mud run (You can even watch it here!). So what was the perfect way for this active, fun-loving pair to end their Piedmont Park engagement shoot ? A holi powder fight! What is that, you ask? It’s the same kind of powder used in the popular ‘The Color Run,’ where runners begin the race in pure white garments and end up covered from head to toe in glorious color, the only white remaining being the smiles on their faces. And boy did Katherine and Max experience the same fun and excitement with their holi powder war! Colors flew, laughter filled the air, and the couple ended their fight bright, colorful and beaming with happiness! Grab yourself a handful of holi powder with these photos by Atlanta wedding photographer Scobey Photography.
Tell us how you met…
Funny story…. Max & Butch (a mutual friend) happened to be at an IU Alumni wrestling golf tournament the weekend I was moving home to Atlanta from Fort Myers. When Max mentioned to Butch that he had moved to Atlanta, Butch immediately knew he needed to put us in touch. Of course I wasn’t about to let Butch give my number to some random guy (even if Butch claimed he was an underwear model). I opted for the more casual approach of the 21st century dating — suggesting a friend request on Facebook. So yes ladies and gentlemen, our original introduction was on FACEBOOK! Max then persuaded me through a few messages to give him my phone number…and the rest is history.
Was there a specific theme or style?
We had three outfit changes, as we wanted the pictures to tell the story about our personalities. For our final outfit we used holi powder to show the playful side of our relationship.
What were your playful twists that made the event unique?
We brought our beloved pug along for the ride…anything with him is playful. We still laugh about the tricks we used to get his attention while the photographers did their work. While Moe is quite photogenic, he didn’t partake in the final activity in our Holi Powder war. Let’s just say I won, and use the pictures to prove it!
What was the most memorable moment?
For Katherine: When Graham and Ashley told Max he had to stand still while I blew the powder straight into Max’s face! For Max: Several pictures captured him in a full body lunge as he was throwing a large pack of powder at his beloved bride-to-be. His expression of sheer excitement says it all.
