Contrary to what everyone may think (or hope), I will not be having a big church wedding with the equally extravagant reception. While I LOVE those types of weddings for others and enjoy all the fabulous details of such an event, it is personally just not my cup of tea. I do, however, plan to have a celebration of my marriage (whenever that happens) but in a way that suits me and the man I say ‘I Do’ to. I recently came across an event that does just that. Emily and Beau married in a small ceremony in front of close friends and family, but wanted to celebrate their bliss with all their friends. So what did they do? They found the perfect venue for their celebration, Atlanta wedding venue Sweetwater Brewery. It has everything you could want in a great party. A huge area for your guests to mix, mingle and dance while sipping on some of Atlanta’s finest craft brews from a pint glass guests get to take home. They even give tours of the facility as part of the rental. How cool is that! Grab a pint, read about Emily and Beau’s celebration and see how yours can be transformed with photos by Atlanta based wedding photographer Alecia Lauren Photography.
Can you give us an overview of the event?
We got married in May in North Carolina with only immediate family in attendance. We had our post-wedding celebration in June at Sweetwater Brewery We had the party to celebrate with the rest of our family and friends. We had Fox Brothers cater the event and used a DJ for our background music entertainment. We had tables and chairs set up inside and out of the beer tasting room. The weather was beautiful, so we were able to enjoy both areas. We wanted it to be low-key and relaxed and that’s exactly what we had!
Was there a specific theme or style? What inspired it?
We used most of the ideas from our wedding dinner with our family in North Carolina. Our florist in Highlands, Kirk Moore, from Oakleaf Florist did a wonderful job at decorating and bringing the outdoors inside to our after-wedding dinner at the wine room at Old Edwards Inn.
What were your playful twists that made the event unique?
We were able to have our wedding photos scrolling on TVs in the brewery so our guests could see our wedding day.
Did you DIY any of the details?
Yes, most of the décor!
What was the most memorable moment?
Seeing all of our family and friends and celebrating with everyone
Tell us about the food and desserts.
Fox Brothers was an absolute perfect choice! We had barbecue brisket, chicken, macaroni and cheese, salad, baked beans. We had banana pudding in mason jars and red velvet whoopie pies, all made by Fox Brothers.
Editorial Note: You can work with your caterer to craft the perfect menu to go along with all the beer selections.
What kind of energy did your entertainment give the event?
We used Lethal Rhythms as our DJ for the party, They played music mostly for a background ambiance.
