As an interior designer, Laurie Burns pays special attention to detail, a quality that helped immensely as she planned her own November wedding to childhood sweetheart Greg Burns. Laurie had always loved visiting Atlanta wedding and event venue The Fox Theatre, and quickly decided that it would be just right for their ceremony and reception. “Nothing compared.” she said. “It just speaks to you and demands you be a little dramatic.” The intricate architecture and detailing of the Fox helped Laurie set the theme for her wedding. “I knew everything had to have an Old Hollywood feel, very ornate and lavish, to go with the space,” she said. The ceremony took place on the terrace, and Laurie and Greg were blown away by the hundreds of candles and thousands of rose petals that carpeted their aisle. Following the ceremony, the 175 guests snacked on crab cakes and baked brie tartlets from caterer Affairs to Remember during a cocktail hour on the terrace before entering the Fox’s ballroom. When designer Amy Osaba saw the Moroccan lantern Greg had used in his proposal, she suggested purchasing more and using them in the tabletop decor. Laurie loved the sentiment the lantern embodied and selected ivory and bronze linens, along with gold chargers and gold rimmed ivory china to accent their display. A Moroccan fountain with floating candles completed the look.
CAKE & DESSERT
Sweet N’ Sinful provided a pumpkin spice wedding cake that everyone enjoyed, and the bride and groom were surprised by a delicious treat from their caterer at the end of the night: s’mores popcorn served with chocolate-peanut butter spoons
Avalanche Entertainment’s DJ Joel did as the bride and groom requested and kept the guests dancing with a mix of classic jazz standards, 80s rock and contemporary hits.
