Winsome billows of soft, white curtains draped from the ceiling, flanking the rows of rustic church pews lined in sweet succession for Halie and Jared’s wedding day. Atlanta wedding venue The Foundry at Puritan Mill was exactly the right setting of rustic Southern romance the couple wished to inspire on their big day. The bride said her vows wearing a gown of lace accents with a headpiece made to match, her look perfectly accented by the violet gowns worn by her bridesmaids. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour complete with slideshows of Halie and Jared before the newlyweds made their first appearance as man and wife, and Jared swept Halie into their first dance. Dinner was served from three elegant stations featuring different foods to sate even the most selective of pallets. The wedding cake followed, the design inspired by Halie’s bridal headpiece, and before they knew it, the bride and groom danced the night away with their guests, capping off the evening with a final dance to Sinatra’s New York in honor of their upcoming move to the Big Apple. Tell us about your wedding gown and what your wedding party wore.
My wedding gown was designed by Rivini. The original dress had off the shoulder sleeves but they used the extra lace on the top of my gown to create the open back. They also used the extra lace to make my veil. My veil was one of my favorite pieces. I decided to go more traditional with a long veil and I am so glad I did. The dress was a champagne color and was not what I was originally looking for but when i put it on it was perfect. I bought it at Solution Bridal in Orlando, FL. It just so happened to be a Rivini Truck show the day of my appointment and so I was able to speak with the rep and custom the dress exactly what wanted. My bridesmaids were a violet dress from Monique Lhullier. I wanted a dress that had a creative touch to it. I wanted long dresses but when I saw that one I fell in love. The dress was so flattering on all different body types and the color looked fabulous on everyone.
What were your playful twists that made the event unique?
I had a company out of Birmingham, AL bring old church pews for the ceremony seating. (P.E.W.S.- purely elegant wedding statements). Rebecca was wonderful to work with and very helpful in making my perfect day come true.
Was there a specific theme or style?
I wanted Southern elegance. Rustic with a feminine touch. Pinterest provided a lot of unneeded inspiration because Bold America took a little of what I like and did their own thing and it was PERECT!
Tell us about the food and desserts.
The food was done by Bold American. It was amazing. I only heard great things and everyone couldn’t stop talking about the mac and cheese and sweet potatoes. Bold made the displays look like works of art and just added to the wonderful decorations we already had. The cake table was my favorite. We used an old farm table and it added the perfect touch. The cake stand for the wedding cake was cast iron and marble and the cake stand for the grooms cake was a moss covered wood block and it was wonderful. The groom’s cake was an Auburn cake from Sharon and Sweet Sensations. Everything was edible including Aubie. The bride’s cake was inspired by the hairpiece I wore on our the wedding day. We did each layer different flavors/fillers. My favorite was the purple layer. It was actually 3 layers chocolate/vanilla/chocolate with strawberry filler and vanilla icing.
What was the best wedding advice you received?
It’s your wedding, so do what you want. You can’t make everyone happy, so make your decisions based on what you want, not what the parents, friends, etc. think.
What were the honeymoon plans?
We spent 10 days in Hawaii. We spent 5 days in Maui and 5 days in Kauai. Kauai was the favorite part of our trip we did a helicopter tour, private dinner on the beach, and spent the days relaxing by the pool.
