Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you know that this spring COLOR is in. From Target to Kate Spade, the fashion world has been singing the praises of bold, bright color. Today’s real wedding continues to do the same, with bride Lauren covering her wedding to Darren with exotic blooms in the most electrifying shades of magenta, purple and orange. Personally? We love it! Their gorgeous wedding venue was the InternContinental Buckhead Hotel in the heart of Atlanta, GA. Don’t miss all of the pictures from Atlanta, GA wedding photographer Holly Jones Photography.
Can you give us an overview of the event? Evening wedding held at the Intercontinental Buckhead mid-summer. It was a reform Jewish wedding, so we followed traditions associated with that. Most of our closest friends and family were there
Was there a specific theme or style? Beautiful, bold colored flowers from all over the world. I really wanted a nice ambiance with lots of candle lighting to set the right mood. Also, my wedding dress had lilies on it, so I tried to incorporate lilies here in there to make a small, classy statement.
What were the playful twists that made your event unique? Since it was 4th of July weekend, we had sparklers at the end of the night. Oh, and our photo booth was a huge hit; people really liked taking hope their photo strips as party favors
Did you DIY any of the details? I designed and created the programs–lots of work, but it paid off! We had some assistance with wedding coordination, but I wanted to use my creative and design skills and plan out all the details like colors, flowers, lighting, etc. That was my favorite part of the planning experience.
Tell us how you met! We met through a mutual friend at a big party; however, nothing came of our introduction that evening. A year later we were both on an online dating service and recognized each other. We decided to get together for a drink at JCT Kitchen in midtown. Instant connection. The rest is history…
Now for the proposal! Darren proposed at Lake Toxaway, NC, where we have a mountain house and frequently visit. It was a well thought out proposal at the same bench swing where he first dropped the “L-word” overlooking a beautiful lake with red roses, petals, champagne and of course the ring and man of my dreams.
What were the honeymoon plans? We left a week after our big day and headed for Barcelona, Spain for a 12 night Mediterranean Celebrity Cruise. In addition to Spain, we went to several stops in Italy, Greece, Turkey and Malta. It was pure bliss!
