Chris and Katie Torres were thrilled to celebrate their daughter Rosemary’s first birthday on December 5, 2010 with an adorable vintage themed party. Though Rosemary herself surely appreciated the smiles and birthday cake more than the decor, Katie put together a gorgeous at-home event filled with pinwheels and vintage details, finding inspiration shopping on sites like Etsy. Rather than being character based or designed around a specific theme, Katie wanted just a simple party for a little girl where the emphasis would be on the celebration of their first child. Guests were invited to fill out memory cards that Katie had personally letterpressed. These cards gave friends and family a place to share their favorite memories of Rosemary from the past year and will provide a fabulous memento as Chris and Katie look back on their daughter’s first birthday in the future. In true DIY fashion, Katie crafted all the party’s details except for the flower arrangements, for which she turned to Darryl Wiseman Flowers. To enhance the theme, Katie sewed vintage fabric garland and even made Rosemary’s baby doll a blanket out of the same fabric.
Katie baked a homemade cake, using a recipe her cousin had made for her own daughter’s first birthday. The cake was topped with a Christmas ornament in the shape of a bunny; it was a perfect choice, considering Chris’s nickname for Rosemary is “sugar bunny.”
