In my opinion, over-the-hill parties should be banished forever. Life begins at 40 (or so I’ve heard). So, instead of slowing your pace, let’s get physical and bring back all the good vibrations from your earlier years with an authentic 80’s party. This past weekend, Tamara from I Do Linens did just that. She and her breakfast club crew time traveled to the days of big hair, neon colors and where Madonna (not Lady Gaga.. though I love her) reigned.
So what does it take to throw an 80’s theme party? Let’s start with the invitations. Designed by Tamara’s friend Luxe Expressions, stationer Debra designed a psychedelic invite that read “It’s like totally a party!… I just wanna have fun.. so walk like an Egyptian and join me for a gnarly 80’s party to celebrate my 40th birthday!… don’t forget to come dressed in your raddest 80’s wear and lets karma chameleon!” Love it!
Neon was the color of choice. Each guest left with a party favor bag full of candy. And glow in the dark necklaces and bracelets lit the place up.
Leg warmers (worn by yours truly), candy bracelets and rubik’s cube, oh my. Tamara even customized the water bottles with an 80’s inspired logo that read “Back to the 80’s water.”
Sweet Sensations created the totally rad cake complete with Michael Jackson’s white glove, a cassette tape and big pink bow.
Above is the same decal we saw on the water bottles but instead on the dance floor. And below, some crazy party animals. 🙂 Photobooths make for fun and pretty good blackmail pieces. Check out the costumes!
