Most wedding receptions are slated to last around 4-5 hours. So, whether you’re hosting a morning affair or an evening soiree, the reality is, your contract decides when the party ends. Ceremony and reception pacing is a tricky balance, but be sure to wrap things up before guests feel obligated to stay. No one wants to feel “stuck” at a party! A 5pm start time with an 10pm end time is perfectly reasonable timespan. If you’re the party-all-night type, opt for a non-obligatory after party for the guests who wish to continue celebrating, away from your reception space. Also be sure to keep city laws in mind–most areas enforce a strict 10pm or 11pm noise ordinance.
