If there is any sure fire way to win over the hearts of the Occasions Magazine girls, it’s through the coordinated use of lots and lots of color! This morning, we’re bringing you a real wedding that has done just that and took place at the beautiful Belmont Country Club wedding venue in Ashford, VA. What’s more, bride Joni is letting me gush over every single picture — and trust me, there is plenty to gush about. Bold purple, orange and a sea of sunflowers…and this is a spring day you don’t want to miss! Photography from South Maryland’s Amanda McMahon wedding photography.
Joni and Tim were had their wedding at the gorgeous Belmont Country Club in Virginia. Not only was the scenery stunning — have you seen the golf course? — but their wedding was a parade of thoughtful details and bright, vibrant color. Read on for my color by color commentary of their wonderful wedding.
These bouquets would make Kate Spade proud. Color, color, color! If you’re looking to make a big impact with a smaller bouquet, opt for big blooms in punchy colors like these gerber daisies, sunflowers and full bodied roses. Also notice how Jodi matched her bridesmaids dresses to the ribbon on each bouquet — cute!
The ‘maids dresses are a great example of “knee-length-done-right” in my book. The length makes them less formal, but a rich eggplant lends an elegant flair. Secondly, I love. this. backdrop. Maybe it’s because it reminds me of my own alama mater’s chapel on campus? Love formal shots taken outside.
Ah, this stationery. So much to love here. I think it’s all about the dainty details for this piece. The sweet scallops remind me of an old fashioned handkerchief, and the weight of the ribbon is an appropriate match. Again, perfectly coordinated orange and purple. The details matter!
This vintage brooch is probably my favorite detail of all. First of all, it’s completely gorgeous by itself. Second, it’s orange and matched perfectly with the rest of the wedding. Third, I’m a total sap for anything with sentimental value… so this one is an all around win for me!
Not a detail shot per say, but you’ve gotta love the “just married shot.” Not only is this probably one of the most used photo for that first-year Christmas card, but the look on the groom’s face is so sweet. Had to put this in here. Bliss!
Ah, place cards. Either super creative and thoughtful or completely overlooked. Luckily, Joni’s are the former! I would be completely smitten to find this at my seat. The light dots and feminine handwriting make it almost as lovely as a fresh bloom itself!
“Everyone’s girl’s crazy bout a sharp dressed man,” right? These men in their khaki and bold ties are the picture of groomsmen perfect! I know a couple who are getting married in May. The groom bought each guy a khaki suit to wear day-of, what a great gift! Practical and stylish.
Lastly, a reception set up that is a classic example of simple elegance. I like that Joni kept the overall look of the room neutral, and then added in pops of color with her centerpieces. Can you spot the place cards, too?
