One of the first things I noticed when looking through Anna and Dane’s wedding photos? Flowers, flowers, and more flowers! These North Carolina natives chose to hold their June nuptials in the sweet southern city of Savannah, and, with the help of Sebrell Smith Designer Events, a wedding and special event designer in Savannah, the celebration overflowed with beautiful pink, cream, and white blossoms! Roses, peonies, hydrangeas, ranunculus . . . you name it! And bride Anna, an interior designer with a sharp eye for details, could not have been more thrilled with the decor. Clad in a pure white ball gown from Monique Lhuillier, Anna glowed with happiness as her father escorted her down the long aisle of Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 350 loved ones smiling away as they watched the pair exchange their vows. A reception immediately followed at The Savannah Golf Club, where guests enjoyed drinks in the courtyard before being served a meal indoors. A sensational gourmet grilled cheese station was even set up in the back bar! The celebration all too soon drew to a close, and the newlyweds made their way through a shower of rose petals to ride off to their honeymoon in a vintage Rolls-Royce. Tell us about your wedding gown and what your wedding party wore.
I wore a Monique Lhullier dress that was made with lace, tulle and satin. It had a full skirt with a peplum and was strapless. I had a beautiful veil made from the same lace as the dress with a long train that I wore in the church during the ceremony. The groomsmen wore tails, and the bridesmaids wore pink silk taffeta long gowns also by Monique Lhullier.
What was the most memorable moment?
When I walked down the aisle with my dad and saw my future husband at the end of the aisle while being surrounded by all of my friends and family. It was a really magical and touching moment.
Was there a specific theme or style? What inspired it?
Elegant and beautiful – the flowers inspired the style and theme of the wedding.
Tell us about the food and desserts.
Instead of doing a seated dinner we decided to do food stations. We had a great menu. The grilled cheese station and sushi stations were both huge hits! We also had a shrimp and grits bar which was yummy! Mini barbecue sandwiches were also passed around to our guests later in the night. We had a fabulous wedding cake – vanilla pound cake with pecan filling and buttercream frosting.
What were your playful twists that made the event unique?
We passed out feather boas, leis, sunglasses and glow necklaces towards the end of the reception. It was a fun way to keep the energy high, and everyone seemed to love them…even the parents and grandparents!
