Carla and Justin started out just as friends. About 5 years later, Carla looked up Justin while in town to hang out and something was just different between them. They built a solid relationship centering around their mutual love for the outdoors & their pups. Their proposal story according to Carla, “Justin is a simple man and doesn’t like to make a big deal out of things. In true Justin fashion, he causally pulled out the ring while we were walking to dinner one night and asked if I’d stick around a little longer.” To celebrate their love of nature, we did a camping inspired engagement session during which it rained nearly the entire time. When it rained on the wedding day, we couldn’t help but laugh and roll with it. Carla had fallen in love with Vinewood Plantation years ago, before she and Justin were even dating. She loved its rustic charm, dreamy property and elegance – all of which the rain could not ruin! “Vinewood gave us a beautiful backdrop without having to force anything. The white table settings with the draped seeded eucalyptus swag and soft candlelight on the barnwood farm tables was elegant without being over the top. I loved the beautiful simplicity of everything!” Some ways in which they personalized their wedding – according to Carla, “Our southwestern cuisine was inspired by Justin’s favorite; Tex-Mex food. He is originally from Arizona so he has always loved it and we traditionally have Taco Tuesday every week in our home. Instead of doing a traditional exit, we wanted to end our reception like our typical get-together with friends end, with a jam session. Justin and our bother-in-law both brought their guitars and we sat around and listened and sang along just like we always do! Guests were treated with hot chocolate and marshmallows.
