On a rainy day in March, Allison and Ryan tied the knot in Roswell, Georgia, surrounded by 250 family and friends. After dating for four years at the University of South Carolina, these Gamecock fans were engaged on Easter 2010, after Ryan proposed by hiding Allison’s ring in an Easter egg! They spent the next year planning a full day of wedding festivities, from a touching traditional ceremony, to a classic and playful reception, full of navy blue and apple green décor. Of course, the couple paid homage to their alma mater by including a University of South Carolina gamecock mascot as Ryan’s groom’s cake. Allison knew that the ivory Rivini dress with an embroidered sash that she tried on at Bridals by Lori was the perfect dress for her the moment she tried it on. Her bridesmaids chose between strapless and halter navy dresses from David’s Bridal. After the wedding, the newlyweds spent five days relaxing at the Sandals Regency La Toc Resort in St. Lucia. The best advice that the couple received? “To not sweat the small things,” said Allison. “Things will go wrong, but at the end of the day, you’re married to your best friend and that’s all that matters.” Images by Artstar Photography.
NAVY AND APPLE
The inspiration for Allison and Ryan’s navy blue and apple green color scheme came from an unlikely place—a bottle of Blue Moon’s Spring Blonde Wheat Ale! They loved how the colors looked together, and thought they were so fresh and classic for a spring wedding. It also gave them lots of room to have fun with their flowers.
Allison and Ryan’s ceremony was held early in the afternoon at St. Brigid Catholic Church, in Roswell, Georgia. One of Allison’s most memorable moments of the day was walking down the aisle, lined with members of the Knights of Columbus.
Allison and Ryan loved their unique centerpieces, created by Cathy Brim of Bloom Floral Design. Cathy incorporated apples and limes into the arrangements to bring in the beautiful green color used throughout the wedding. Some of the guests even snacked on the apples!
Allison and Ryan’s dogs are a big part of their lives, and they wanted to include them in their special day. Since dogs were not permitted at their venue, they asked their baker, Baker’s Man, to include them on their amazing topsy-turvy cake. All the guests recognized the dogs right away! As another playful nod to their furry friends, Allison and Ryan made dog treat favors that read “With Love from our Pups to yours.”
