Y’all, I can’t stop smiling about today’s wedding! I’m a lover of beauty and simplicity, and Jennifer and Seth’s wedding at Spring Lake Events, a barn venue in Rockmart, GA, was the essence of both! The late September day began with wedding pictures, the bride and her bridesmaids — all friends since childhood — unable to completely contain their giggles of excitement about the occasion. Jennifer was a picture of loveliness in her simple lace gown, the keyhole back adding a touch of sophistication, while the groom, groomsmen, and bridesmaids exuded their own charm in their apparel of soft gray and rose pink. Upon arriving at the venue, guests were greeted by hand-painted signs directing them to their seats for the outdoor ceremony. The wooden pews were quickly filled, and family and friends watched with delight as the couple was united beneath a rustic arbor romantically placed beside a shining lake. An indoor reception filled with burlap, hydrangeas and candlelight followed, where bride and groom skipped supper to groove on the dance floor with their guests! Relish this graceful Southern celebration with these photos by Atlanta wedding photographer, Brita Photography!
Tell us about your wedding gown and what your wedding party wore.
Bridesmaids were dressed in rose pink dresses with simple sandals and a turquoise accent necklace with the most gorgeous bouquets ever, including succulents, garden roses and greenery accents. The groomsmen were dressed in sharp charcoal grey suits with white shirts and light pink ties and a simple pink rose as their boutonnieres.
What were your smartest savings?
Decorations! We did a lot of our decorations ourselves. With Pinterest these days, I got a lot of ideas from there and put my special touch on them. We had great friends around us that helped us with a lot and it saved us A LOT of money.
Can you tell us about the ceremony?
For the ceremony we stood under and wooden handmade arbor with flowy white fabric and gorgeous greenery and flowers. It was overlooking a lake with two willow trees on either side. The guests sat in pew benches with hydrangeas in mason jars at the sides of the aisle.
Did you DIY any of the details?
Almost all of the details were DIY. We made burlap flowers to wrap around all the mason jars that held hydrangeas. Each table in the reception was labeled with a banner made from burlap that we printed white letters, from the food table to the cake table to the drink table. All the centerpieces were a combination of the florist and our special touches with baby’s breath and candles.
Tell us about the food and desserts.
Food was AMAZING! All everyone talked about was the dinner and cake! The dinner you had a choice between steak and chicken and could choose from three sides and a salad. We had sweet tea and lemonade and also a table of beer and wine. Our wedding cake was a strawberry flavor and was to die for! The groom’s cake was a Reese’s peanut butter cake that had crumbles of it all down the side with two small bowls of Reese’s cups next to it. They were gone in seconds.
If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
I wouldn’t have changed a thing! That is a shock to me too; I am a pretty picky person, but our wedding day was seriously perfect. I sit here and smile thinking about it.
