A carousel ride. Now why didn’t we think of this completely romantic, supremely perfect wedding picture prop before? Luckily, Garrett and Serena dreamt it up and brought it — and so many other — whimsical wedding day details to life at their Rhode Island affair at the Metacomet Country Club wedding venue. Captured by Rhode Island based wedding photographer Polina Kelly Photographer, we’re confident you’ll love it as much as we do! (Don’t miss the a-mazing cake, too!)
Can you give us an overview of the event? We got married at St. Augustine’s Church in Providence, went to the Cresent Park Carousel for pictures and then an evening reception at Metacomet Country Club.
Was there a specific theme or style? I love pink, so I really wanted the whole room to look pink with black and white accents. I guess I would say my style was classy chic! I wanted it fun and out of the ordinary and I hope I pulled it off.
What were the playful twists that made your event unique? We didn’t have a seating chart, everyone chose where they wanted to sit. So we had different sized tables arranged around the room, some big to fit 10 people and some high top bar tables that sat 4. We wanted it to be more of a party than a sit down dinner. We also had a photobooth instead of a guest book, which was awesome!!
Did you DIY any of the details? The only detail we did ourselves was our favor for everyone. Instead of little nicknacks, we donated to the Make A Wish fountaion in everyones honor. We designed and presented it in a frame at the main entrance for everyone to see.
What was the most memorable moment? My most memorable moment would have to be the carousel ride! We reserved it for a half hour and the whole wedding party got to ride. It was so much fun and the video and pictures of us came out fabulous!
Tell us about the food and desserts: We had a delicious antipasto set up during the cocktail hour, then for dinner my husband’s only request for the entire wedding was to have chicken parmesan as the main course. So we had that with a pasta station, to create any type of pasta you would like. Our wedding cake was made by a family friend and was given to us as our wedding gift. My husband is very into desserts so he requested red velvet, but they turned it up a notch and they added a layer of raspberry filling and a layer of chocolate mousse. Needless to say there wasn’t many pieces left over!
If there was one thing you could change, what would it be? Honestly, this may sound crazy, but I wouldn’t change anything! I loved every aspect of my wedding and from the moment I woke up I took it all in and it was perfect!!!! I’m very lucky and couldn’t have asked for a better day.
What was the best wedding advice you received? Get everything done as soon as possible! That way you have more time to enjoy being engaged! And don’t stress if you cant make everyone happy, its your day
