Growing up, the first dreams little girls’ have of their wedding include it being big, with everyone they know being invited, and traditional. Michelle got this and more when she married her soulmate Troy. After exchanging vows in front of 210 guests, they held one over the top reception, complete with crystal and bling everywhere from the decor to the cake (not to mention that abundance of food…I’m was getting hungry just reading about it). Dream big and let the little girl in each of you giggle with excitement with photos by Vanessa Joy Photography.
Tell us how you met…
Troy and I met back in October 2007 at a Halloween Party! It was at a one of my best friends house, and Troy came along with an old friend. Throughout the night there was not much conversation, until at one point when we wound up outside with no one else around. Being the only people outside, Troy started conversation, and before we knew it, we spent the rest of the night hanging out, dancing and talking. At the end of the party, Troy asked for my number and I gave it to him. The next day, he actually called me in the afternoon, telling me he wanted to see me again. I was kind of skeptical to be honest. As the days went on, I decided to give it a shot. Next thing we knew, we were spending all of our spare time together. From there our relationship grew, our love blossomed, and here we are the 5 1/2 years later, madly in love and married! Couldn’t be happier to have found my best friend, love, and one and only soul mate. Who would have thought I was going to find my husband at a Halloween party!
Now for the proposal… details!
As for the proposal, I had an idea it was coming! Although, I was trying to block it out so I was surprised. Troy on the other hand, Is not one for surprises, and he always spoils them! He is super impatient and can never hold back! So, with that being said.. at 11 o’clock pm, Monday night April 18, 2011 on the kitchen floor at my parents house, he proposed! TYPICAL TROY! He had went that night to pick up the ring, and got home and just couldn’t wait!! I was laying on the couch watching TV when he came in, and he kept calling me over. Me being lazy, I didn’t want to get up. Then, he assured me that I wanted to get up. A lightbulb went off, and I said to myself could it be? So I ran over, and Troy Went down on one knee, said some beautiful things, and ended with will you marry me? With this he handed me a black ring box and kept telling me to open it, My answer was you open it!!! He insisted I did! Once I opened it, there was NO RING! My heart sunk instantly, but then when I picked my head up, He had the fancy mahogany box open, with my stunning cushion cut diamond engagement ring staring right at me! I Immediately said yes, was hugging him and didn’t want to let go! Considering it was so late, we waiting until the next day to tell everyone and celebrate!
We want to know about all the wedding details, was it small and intimate or big and traditional?
Our wedding was a typical, big Italian traditional wedding with beautiful decor, outstanding music, amazing food, and gorgeous views. From start to finish it was seamless, and we wouldn’t change a thing!
Tell us about your wedding gown and what your bridal party wore.
My wedding gown was simple, but had stunning detail. It was A Sareh Nouri Duchess Satin Trumpet gown. We added a sash full of sworvski Crystals, and added straps to match. The neckline was sweetheart. The dress was pure white, and had stunning Swarovski crystal buttons down the entire back! Truly exquisite, and very elegant. I wanted something timeless, and thats exactly was this dress was! My Bridal party wore a Watters trumpet gown. The color was Silver. There dress was a taffeta, and had a sweetheart neckline as well. The back of there dress was low and formed a V is in the back. I wanted there dress to be simple and neutral! I couldn’t believe i was able to find the exact style dress and color I was looking for! they all looked beautiful and absolutely love it!
Can you give us an overview of the event?
Our wedding ceremony was held at Saint Robert Bellarmine Church, and reception was at Clarks Landing, Point Pleasant NJ. Words can never describe the way we felt from the beginning of the day to end. From our beautiful ceremony, to unbelievable reception our wedding day left us feeling that we wanted to do it all over again! Clarks landing is a gorgeous venue, with spectacular views, delicious food, and impeccable service. Having our wedding at Clarks Landing was a real dream come true. We were truly left on cloud nine and couldnt have been happier! We were so blessed to have had the most amazing friends and family there with us to support and celebrate our love!
Was there a specific theme or style?
There was no specific theme or style, However..I happen to love any kind of crystal! I Found myself adding crystals wherever possible! We had three different centerpieces! One sat 6 ft high off the table. A crystal chandelier with orchids on the top rim, and floating on the bottom. The base of the chandelier was encrusted in rhinestones, and had flowers on top of it. In the flowers was pillar candles to add romantic lighting. The second centerpiece was three different size cylinder vases, with water and orchids placed inside. Floating candles sat on top f the cylinder, and crystals hung all down the sides of the vase. There was also 3 full crystal candle holders scattered between the tall cylinders. The third centerpiece was a big ball of flowers, and crystals draped down this cylinder vase that it was sitting on. Also around this centerpiece was full crystal candle holders with pillar candle lit inside. We also had full crystal cake cutters, sworvski crystal champagne flutes, rhinestone banding and fresh orchids on our cake. Our place card holders were also small crystal picture frames, with the place cards inside. Overall, I guess you can say I had a crystal styled wedding decor!
What inspired the theme or style?
Nothing other than my love for sparkle inspired my style of decor. We knew that in Clarks Landing with there beautiful lighting, gorgeous crystals chandeliers, with our idea of crystals everywhere would just enhance it and make it even more beautiful! After all, It was a true success! Walking into the room for the first time , seeing it all put together left us speechless! Flowerful Events of Eatontown New Jersey exceeded everything we could have ever wanted!
What were your playful twists that made the event unique?
We kept everything pretty traditional. Mostly the decor made our wedding more unique than others.
What was the most memorable moment?
Most memorable moment was walking down the aisle, and seeing each other for the first time. Never did I ever feel that way in my entire life. It was incredible and I hope every girl I know gets to experience it! As for at the reception, There was a point where Troy and I sat at our sweetheart table, looked around and really took a moment to embrace the fact that everyone was there for us. It was truly and unbelievable feeling. Of course, getting announced and having our first dance was very memorable as well!
Tell us about the food and desserts.
The food. Where do we begin? Cocktail hour was out of this world. We had tons and tons of stations. Everything from a latino station with Paella Valenciana, Spanish rice & Beans accompained with sides such as guacamole ,sour cream, salsa and cheese to make you perfect fajitas! Of course we had traditional Italian favorites calamari, penne pasta pomodoro, eggplant rollatine. We also accompaied this with a seafood Mediterranean. There was an International wine and cheese station, Mediterranean display , Italian Salumaria and antipasta station, Sausage and Risotto station, mashed potato bar. Sushi bar with our custom monogram ice sculpture, Deluxe RawBar, Fresh Fruit and Gourmet Cornucopia, International salad display Last but not least Carving station! To top this all off, there was over two dozen passed Hors D’ Oeuvres served white gloved butler style. Some of the favorites were beef welling to, filet mignon sliders, crab cakes, scollops in bacon, coconut shrimp, beef empanada, hawaiian chicken kabos, and baby lamb chops! As for our reception it was a gourmet five course meal, but first started with a champagne toast! Troys favorite pasta dish is stuffed rigatoni with vodka sauce, so that was served as our first course! Second course was roasted pear and stilton cheese salad in a tortilla shell. Intermezzo was blackberry cabernet sorbet with fresh berry garnish. Choice of Entree was chateaubriand, Chicken Marquis, or seafood combo with crabmeat stuffed founder. For dessert we had wedding cake , petite viennese display, and Deluxe chocolate fountain display! Sound like enough? As you can tell Clarks Landing is no place you will ever go home hungry from! ANd on top of it all, everything was unbelievably delicious! guest were calling for weeks talking about the abundance of food, and how amazing it all was!
What kind of energy did your entertainment give the guests?
We had the pleasure of the having the unbelievably talented 12 piece band, The Rhythm Shop at our wedding. There was never a moment in all 4 1/2 hours that they stopped preforming. The dance floor was packed the entire night! Our wedding was extremely high energy from the second we walked in! One song to the next was awesome, and they kept everyone on there feet. There are absolutely no words to describe the rhythm shop. They are truly INCREDIBLE!!!! Guests still are talking about them to this day, 9 months later!! That is the kind of impression they leave! My wedding would have never been the same without them, and I consider myself lucky to have had them there to make my wedding day extra special! There talent is endless! Compared to all other wedding bands I have seen, they truly surpass them all!
If there was one thing you could change, what would it be?
If there was one thing I could change, it would be nothing!
What was the best wedding advice you received?
Best wedding advice I received was to say hello to everyone at the cocktail hour. Troy and i had an hour and a half cocktail hour so we could do so, and it was the best decision we made. We were able to enjoy every single moment of the reception, being that we spoke to all of our guests at cocktail hour. We literally didn’t leave the dance floor the entire night, and It truly was the time of our lives! Also, don’t let anything get out down, your wedding day will be the most memorable day of your life, so no matter what keep smiling and embrace every moment! It goes so fast!
