Playful Spring Wedding Inspiration
On my wedding day last May, I made sure that I sat down beside my husband to relish the delicious brunch food served at our reception before mingling with guests and enjoying that first dance. Sadly, many brides and grooms do not get the opportunity to sample all the mouthwatering wedding day cuisine with their guests, especially during cocktail hour, when the stars of the day are hungry and posing for pictures while all their loved ones chat, laugh, and enjoy tasty food and drinks. Well folks, it doesn’t have to be this way! Nicole Chapman of Simply Catering is firm believer that the bride and groom should enjoy every part of their big day, including all the fun and food of cocktail hour! So brides and grooms-to-be: sit back, sip a glass of lemonade, and let this peppy springtime wedding shoot show you what a ball you can have by participating in the whole of your wedding day celebration! Images captured by Atlanta wedding photographer Tessa Marie Weddings!
Tell us a little about yourself.
I have been around weddings my entire life! My mother started Simply Catering when I was just 8 months old and I have inherited her passion for collaborating on creating and executing special events, big and small. I am currently the VP and Creative Director for the company. I am also interning this summer for a very unique company called, The NotWedding, where I will assist with event production and marketing. I am also a part time student at the University of West Georgia, and I am a proud mother of five year old twins, Micah and Mia.
Theme
The theme of this shoot was spring outdoor fun featuring preppy, fresh Ralph Lauren-esque details mixing modern and vintage elements.
Colors Used
Peach, Gold, Chambray, Pistachio Green, Bright and Pale Pink.
Flowers
We went with minimal flowers for the purpose of emphasizing gorgeous details through food and fun activities.
Perfect for…
This shoot would be perfect for the couple who love to experience fun through food and games. They do not take themselves too seriously and although they have high standards for incorporating quality details into their wedding, they are not bogged down with the need to separate themselves from their guests. They want to enjoy the entire day and they view life together as one big party with the marriage being the favor.
What to Wear
This shoot features a gorgeously simple, knee length wedding dress by Chaviano Couture from Fabulous Frocks of Atlanta and an impeccably tailored khaki suit with chambray details by The Modern Gent.
Items to Incorporate
Easy to enjoy edibles are definitely a must for executing a regalement such as this. Food that is colorful, easy to eat, and incorporates thought provoking color profiles and food pairings, such as Peanut Butter & Jelly Popcorn and Vintage Honey Lemonade are sure to be crowd pleasers! We also believe in comfortable seating such as a sophisticated lounge by the lake or oak rocking chairs. on the lawn. Simple, side swept hair and an illuminated face give the impression of “easy-go-lucky” while looking preppy and refreshed. And of course, a delightful and engaging reception and cocktail hour are not complete without games, such as adult sized jenga or a vintage croquette set (available online and more than likely through close relatives that would be more than willing to contribute to the festivities.)
Things to Consider
This wedding style is best fit for Spring and Summer months because the elements needed to pull off this look are most desirable outside and under warmer conditions that would require chilled refreshments such as popsicles, lawn games, lighter attire. and a venue with the ability to utilize both indoor and outdoor spaces to encourage the movement of guests, including the Bride & Groom.
