One look at these images from South Carolina based wedding photographer Kate’s Lens Photography and I’m finding myself mentally back in December, hanging stockings, stirring marshmallows into hot cocoa and singing my favorite Christmas Caroles. Not surprisingly, it was the very Christmas holiday season that inspired Beth and Ryan’s winter Pennsylvania nuptials. Their reception, held at the Talamore Country Club wedding venue in Ambler, PA had everything- red berries, fur stoles and snowy white accents made for a romantic, elegant affair.
Can you give us an overview of the event: Our wedding ceremony took place at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Ambler, PA. We were married by Monsignor Stephen McHenry at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, December 10, 2011. Our wedding reception was held at Talamore Country Club in Ambler, PA. The cocktail hour started at 6 o’clock with the reception immediately following at 7 o’clock. Our wedding party included 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen. My Maid of Honor was a very close friend, Bridget Lydon, and my 3 sisters, Alicia Beatty, Christiana Campos and Lauren Beatty, were also bridesmaids. Ryan’s Best Man was his brother, Brett Trego, and his 3 very close friends served as groomsmen as well.
What inspired the theme or style? Ryan and I both love Christmas time! We both love the lights, decorations and Christmas spirit, which definitely came across at our wedding reception.
What are the playful twists that made your event unique? Our wedding party! Every single person in our wedding party made our day so very special and fun! Our DJ also handed out glasses that had blinking lights on them that people were wearing on the dance floor! It was a funny surprise!
What was the most memorable moment? The moment I saw Ryan as my Dad was walking me up the aisle. My husband is not an overly emotional man, so to see him standing there with tears in his eyes is a moment that I will never forget! Oh, and of course, everyone wearing the light up glasses on the dance floor 🙂
Tell us about your wedding gown, and what your wedding party wore: My wedding dress was an ivory and champagne satin sweetheart strapless a line gown with a semi-cathedral length train. The bodice of the gown was beaded and had exposed covered buttons up the back of my dress. I wore an ivory cathedral length veil with scattered pearls on it.
Tell us about the food and dessert: Our cocktail hour had 5 butlered hor dourves (very traditional choices as per the groom’s request) which included Stuffed Mushrooms, Chicken Quesadillas, Pigs in a Blanket, Mini Philly Cheesesteak Tart and Vegetable Pizzas. There was also a fruit and cheese display. The plated dinner included Cream of Potato Soup with a garlic waffle crisp, and choice of Filet Mignon, Chilean Sea Bass, Chicken Marsala or Eggplant Parmesan. Our delicious wedding cake had two flavors, well actually three, because our top layer was a mix of the two, which were Chocolate Chip Pound Cake and Raspberry Swirl Poundcake with a Vanilla Buttercream Icing. There was also a dessert station which included a variety of mini dessert choices, such as apple pie, chocolate cake, assorted cookies, cheesecake and petit fours.
Tell us how you met: Ryan tells me now that driving home from our first date he knew he found the girl he was going to marry and would’ve actually called his mom to tell her if she wasn’t already asleep! We actually met on Match.com (each other being the first and only person we talked to or went on a date with from the site). From our first date on, I knew Ryan was a very special person and knew he was in my life for a reason.
Now for the proposal…details!: Ryan set up a hot air balloon ride and actually proposed to me while we were still in the air! The basket was a little tight, but he still managed to get down on one knee! We landed, had champagne and snacks, and set paper lanterns up into the sky (provided by the hot air balloon folks).
What were the honeymoon plans? We spent 10 days in beautiful Antigua at the Sandals Grande Antigua. We were married on Saturday and left on Monday which was perfect because we had Sunday to relax a little before leaving!
