A girl never truly knows whom she might meet while at beach volleyball practice, and in Jessica’s case, it was her future husband! She was smitten with Allen from the moment she set eyes on him during a practice her sophomore year of college. Just a few short months later, Allen asked his pretty new friend out on a date, and the two have been a lovestruck pair ever since! The couple became engaged and proceeded planning their June nuptials at St. Agnes Catholic Church, and since Allen was determined to wear a sharp gray tux from Vera Wang for the occasion, yellow was chosen to complement the gray and form the celebration’s sophisticated color palette. 140 guests witnessed Jessica and Allen unite in matrimony, and afterward they proceeded to a classic oceanside wedding venue and resort in Naples, Florida, LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort, where they savored the resort’s excellent cuisine and rocked to the music of DJ Adam Epstein of 84 West Studios! Grab your dancing shoes for these nuptials captured by J’Adore Studios, a photography studio based out of Northeast Florida!
Tell us how you met. Was it love at first sight, blind date, friends forever?
We met in our sophomore year of college while practicing for beach volleyball in November 2008. My best friend was my partner and had asked a friend of hers to help us get better at beach volleyball. The partner he brought was Allen. I actually forgot that I had met him the first time, but all four of us became really close really fast and started a great friendship. I always liked Allen from the beginning, but it took him about 3 months to come around and we started dating at the end of January 2009. After about two weeks of dating, Allen asked me to be his girlfriend February 15, 2009. We have been inseparable ever since.
Was there a specific theme or style? What inspired it?
The specific theme were the colors gray and yellow. Allen (the groom) just really loved the gray Vera Wang tux that you can find at Men’s Warehouse and with it being in the summer we thought yellow would accompany it extremely well. With those being the colors we decided to just base all other details with it. All the men had gray tuxes and the bridesmaids had gorgeous floor length canary dresses designed by Bill Levkoff that we found out at an amazing bridesmaids shop in Jacksonville, FL called Bella’s Bridesmaids. After we found those, all the other details came together pretty easily.
What were your playful twists that made the event unique?
We had a bubble entrance in place of an exit since we were staying at LaPlaya. That way we could still enjoy that tradition but not have to worry about it at the end of the night.
Tell us about the cake.
The cake was four tiers with each just being a little different. One layer was white cake with a lemon custard and vanilla bean icing, the second layer was a chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache and peanut butter icing. The third layer was a lemon cake with a lemon custard and vanilla bean icing. The last layer was lemon and poppyseed cake with the lemon custard and vanilla bean icing.
What kind of energy did your entertainment give the event?
DJ Adam Epstein of 84 West Studios did a terrific job. They had the perfect energy for the wedding which was just a celebrating/upbeat energy. It was always such a fun, party atmosphere which is exactly what we wanted.
