Traditional customs. Modern glamour. Cultural fare. Larger than life party. We simply can’t get enough of Sofia Rykov and Alexander Koshevatsky’s wedding day at San Francisco wedding venue Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayport Hotel. These two love birds met in their younger years through the tight-knit Russian community of San Francisco. Both children of Russian immigrants, it was important to the bride and groom to include nods to their heritage throughout their big day. The ceremony began with the signing of the traditional Jewish ketubah, or marriage contract, while surrounded by their parents. The couple then tied the knot in a traditional Jewish ceremony in the company of their 170 guests. After the ‘I do,’ guests celebrated the nuptials alongside the new Mr. and Mrs. in a glam all night affair. Guests nibbled on bite-sized Russian favorites like caviar and sour cream, buzhenina and khachapuri before dining on filet mignon and seabass during the dinner hour. The newlyweds swayed with their father and mother, and surprised guests with a confetti drop at the close of their first dance as husband and wife. San Francisco wedding photographer Jonathan James of IQ Photography captured every moment of Sofia and Alexander’s big day.
