Today is part two of Jenna and Justin’s Floridian feature! Yesterday we brought you Jenna’s Chanel inspired bridal shower, and today is the BIG day — a beautiful oceanside ceremony and reception at La Playa Beach & Golf Resort in Naples, FL. Orchids, candle light and other romantic details dominated the decor. See all of the details below and don’t miss the entire gallery! Tell us about your wedding! We got married at La Playa Beach Resort on October 23rd, 2011, surrounded by our closest family and friends, that flew in from near and far (some all the way from Scotland) to join us on our special day. The weather was absolutely perfect as it was not too hot and there was a nice breeze. We were so lucky to have great weather since there had been rain the days before. The romantic ceremony took place on the resort lawn, right next to the beach, with the canopy draped in light material, and an array of gorgeous flowers in shades of cream, ivory, and purple to decorate the canopy front.
(con’t) The aisle floor was lined with a thick layer of ivory rose petals and pops of purple orchids on each side, and an “S” monogram of rose petals at the top of the aisle. Crystal strands and orchid garlands hung down the back of the canopy, which looked absolutely beautiful. Brett Foreman played Spanish guitar music on his guitar as our guests arrived, and as our ceremony began
(con’t) Our ceremony was performed beautifully, and was both emotional, with a touch of humor. We released a couple of white doves, followed by 10 others, which were released remotely. It was so peaceful to watch them all circle around and fly off along the skyline just before the sun went down. Since Jenna and her family are originally from Scotland, a bagpiper piped us back down the isle, which was very moving.
(con’t) After the ceremony, everyone headed up to the 2nd floor terrace, which overlooked the ocean, for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. As soon as our guests entered the doors, they were overwhelmed with candles, crystal chandeliers, and tall vases of floating orchids. Our guests enjoyed the spectacular ocean view as they sipped on champagne and cocktails, and nibbled on the tasty hors d’oeuvres.
(con’t) The sunset that evening was incredible and we were able to take some photographs down on the beach, which ended up being absolutely breathtaking. After enjoying the sunset cocktail hour, our guests entered in the reception area. The reception was very elegant and romantic, decorated in shades of champagne and gold, glimmering floating candles, and tall crystal candelabra centerpieces containing orchids, roses, and hydrangeas.
(con’t) Purple up-lighting added that touch of color that just brightened everything up and gave the room a more romantic glow. I remember walking in and couldn’t believe how stunning everything looked. Everything was just as I had imagined- if not better.
(con’t) Jessica James went above and beyond to ensure that our flowers and centerpieces were beyond my expectations. The room had been completely transformed. The Brett Foreman Band (a 6-piece band) was so talented and provided us with an amazing 5 hours of music, playing light piano music during dinner, perfecting our first dance song, “When you love someone,” and then breaking out into full out party music to keep our guests dancing all night long. As I looked around towards the end of the night, everyone was up on their feet, dancing, laughing, and having a great time. That’s when I knew our wedding had been a complete success!
If there was one thing you could change, what would it be? Since Justin and I were too busy having a good time dancing, we missed out on eating desert! Other than that, we would not have changed a thing. We even extended the party for another 45 minutes overtime since we didn’t want the night to end! Once the wedding was over, we both said that we wish that we could do it all over again next year! If only we had the funds to throw an anniversary celebration like this each and every year…
