Valerie and Ben vowed to love one another with a forever-kind-of-love on the pavilion of Dahlonega wedding venue Wolf Mountain Vineyards & Winery overlooking the North Georgia mountains. Brilliant fall leaves clung to the November trees, the spectacle of autumn the perfect backdrop for the ceremony. Valerie declared her love wearing a bridal gown she’d fallen for at first sight, her bridesmaids at her back in jade green that matched the ties each groomsman wore with black tuxedos. Handcrafted details touched nearly every facet of the affaire, from the invitations and boutonnieres to the ceremony programs. The reception commenced inside the winery following a romantic cocktail hour. Guests enjoyed a meal by Wolf Mountain caterers followed by a celebration under the moonlight on the deck where Valerie and Ben could be found smiling and dancing in each other’s arms throughout the evening. Tell us how you met. Was it love at first sight, blind date, friends forever?
Ben and I went to high school together, but didn’t know each other in high school (we went to a big school). We actually went to separate colleges but Ben’s twin brother went to college with me. Ben came down to visit his brother Alex after Alex hurt his knee playing basketball and Ben and I hit it off.
Now for the proposal . . . details!
I knew the proposal was coming but didn’t know when and I really wanted it to be a surprise. So, Ben picked a time when I would least expect it. A Monday night. It was just the two of us, and just what I wanted.
Was there a specific theme or style?
The colors and decor were all fall themed. Fall is such a pretty time of year, especially in the mountains, so the colors were a perfect inspiration.
Tell us about the food and desserts.
I heard from SO many people that the food at our wedding was better than any other wedding they had been to. Thanks to the awesome coordinators at Wolf Mountain, we actually got to eat, and I have to agree, the food was awesome. Especially, the fried mac and cheese!
What was the most memorable moment?
Of course, the entire day was special, but I specifically remember the last dance of the night. We picked the song “Dancing in the Moonlight” for the final song. Ben and I danced together and neither one of us could stop smiling. We talked about how perfect the night had been. We remembered that people had told us we wouldn’t want to leave the reception, but we both said that we were ready to go. It sounds corny, but the night had been everything we could have imagined, everything went perfectly and we just knew it was time to go. We were so excited to head off as newlyweds!
