When artist Lindsay Mahaffey O’Dell began planning her dream wedding, she started with the symbol of her relationship with Ben. “I asked to see butterflies as a sign that we were meant to be together and ever since our lives have been surrounded by butterflies,” said O’Dell. From Lindsay’s vibrant bouquet by Bloom Floral Design to artful handmade party favor cones and CDs, whimsical butterflies punctuated the event. Ferns, acorns, rosemary and other fall accoutrements were also incorporated into the decor to give the event a woodsy feel. The bride’s cousin entertained guests with classical guitar in the lush garden during the cocktail hour and The Mighty Kicks got the party going during the reception. There was even a special surprise for the bride. “After having a private moment and a quick bite inside Atlanta wedding venue The Trolley Barn, we were asked to join our guests in the garden,” said O’Dell. “Besides the indescribable feeling of seeing hundreds of faces of family and friends who love and support us, we were greeted by the gorgeous fluttering wings of Monarch butterflies.” With the expert planning of Ashley Hess of On the Plantation Events, Lindsay and Ben’s wedding was truly an artistic affair to remember.
