Atlanta Wedding at The Peachtree Club by Andrea Taylor Studio
It’s Monday and we’re back into the swing of things with this lovely real wedding. Quintessentially Atlanta, this rooftop celebration at The Peachtree Club, a rooftop wedding venue in the heart of Midtown Atlanta. Their big day was planned by Atlanta, GA wedding planner Lemiga Events. Symrna, GA wedding photographer Andrea Taylor Studio is full of glamour and city chic. The monochromatic color scheme was as elegant as the couple themselves. My favorite detail though, just might be the getaway dress…keep reading to find out what I mean!
Can you give us an overview of the event? This was the wedding of soulmates. It was held in Atlanta as both Leah and Stephen were born here and still live here. The couple met in the first grade and both currently work in South Florida (Miami) as Researchers. The couple decided to have bring Miami to Atlanta as they love the city of Miami. This was the theme of the wedding. The couple’s colors were gunmetal and cranberry which all of the wedding party wore. The guests of the wedding were asked to wear all black. There was an open bar all night and a cocktail hour that began one hour before the wedding started. The groom and wedding party got to mingle with guests before the ceremony while the bride waited patiently for the ceremony to begin. The setup of the ceremony and reception was like a lounge so there was no formal seating and some guests sat on couches while others stood at highboy tables. The bride’s brother walked her down the aisle as her father had just recently passed away. There was a dedication to her father during the ceremony. All in all the event was beautiful and accurately captured the Miami theme and feel that the couple wanted.
Was there a specific theme or style? The theme and style of the wedding was Miami nightlife. The wedding was held on the roof of the Peachtree Club. All of the couches and furniture were white and the flowers were delicately place around the venue. There was white drapery that blew in the breeze and gave the feel that you were in Florida near a beach. There was amber and orange uplighting which is very characteristic of Miami nightlife.
What were your playful twists that made the event unique? What made the event unique was the couple’s play on their relationship. They have known each other since the first grade. They had pictures around the venue of them in the first grade through adulthood so that their guests could see their progression together. They had signature cocktails as well as an open bar for their guests. The groom’s signature cocktail was “Woo Woo” and the Bride’s was “Bourbon Breeze”. The guests really appeared to like that twist and commented on whose was the best the entire night.
Tell us about the food and desserts: The couple wanted the food to be a mixture of Miami and Southern style and the Peachtree Club chef was able to make it happen beautifully. During the cocktail hour, the guests were served beef sliders, fried okra and watermelon and tomato skewers with balsamic vinaigrette. For dinner, the guests had a choice of Beef Wellington, Grilled Snapper and Fried Chicken and Biscuits. This was accompanied with a mixed green salad, green beans, southern mashed potatoes and other vegetables. This was served at stations so that the guests could eat at their leisure. For dessert, the guests were served the bride and groom cake. The brides cake consisted of layers of Red Velvet, Oreo Cookies and Cream and Vanilla with buttercreme icing. The Groom’s cake was chocolate.
Tell us about the proposal! Stephen proposed to me on January 8, 2011. I was in Scottsdale, Arizona for my company’s annual meeting and Stephen told me that he would not be able to attend. I was very disappointed so he decided that he would make it up to me by purchasing a massage at the Sanctuary Resort and Spa on Camelback Mountain. I went to the Spa and got a hot stone’s massage and as I was face down on the table, I heard on of my favorite Prince song (Soul Sanctuary) playing in the background. I then felt something slip on my finger and I heard Stephen’s voice telling me that he loved me and that he wanted to get married. I was in complete shock. When I looked up, it was Stephen and the massage staff standing there with Champagne and strawberries and they were filming the entire proposal. He had slipped the ring on my finger and It was really beautiful. They let us go out on the balcony to a private area and enjoy the champagne and fruit. One of the best days of my life.
What were the honeymoon plans? We vacationed in Montego Bay Jamaica at the Ritz Carlton Resort and Spa for one week and then we flew to Las Vegas, NVand stayed at the Aria and the Red Rock Casino for another week. We had a ball and won money on the sport’s betting!!!
