St. Patrick’s Day 2013 — the day of Kelly and Jeff’s wedding — dawned bright and beautiful in the city of Atlanta, and the excited couple was out of bed and at Centennial Olympic Park before sunrise to run their marathon. Yes, that’s right! This couple loves to exercise, and for these athletes there was no better way to start their special day than to run all 26 miles of the Publix Georgia Marathon in fun St. Patrick’s day garb (Kelly even included a veil, a white tutu, and a garter in her attire!). After the race, it was time to freshen up and begin preparing for the early evening ceremony! It was truly a family affair, the wedding party consisting only of Kelly and Jeff’s children and a few of their best friends. To suit the day, groom and groomsmen all wore ties and vests of shamrock green, while the bridesmaids, crowns of flowers on their heads, wore sleeveless white tops and jade green skirts (so cute!). Kelly was radiant in her white ball gown as she walked down the aisle, and no one could hide their smiles of excitement as the lovebirds vowed to journey through life as man and wife. A reception followed in the comfort of the historic Horseradish Grill, where family and friends gathered for a time of good food, togetherness and love. Tell us how you met. Was it love at first sight, blind date, friends forever?
Love at first sight! We met at work and built a friendship through running and cycling together.
Now for the proposal…details!
Jeff proposed over dinner on our “dating anniversary” and his words were just beautiful.
Tell us about your wedding gown and what your wedding party wore.
I wore a strapless wedding gown, and my bridesmaids wore green skirts with cream strapless blouses (selected by my stepdaughter, Emily).
Was there a specific theme or style? What inspired it?
We were married on St Patrick’s day so green was in the color scheme but really just inspired to have a beautiful ceremony followed by a laid back dinner with family and friends. We were surrounded by our 4 children and 3 of their best friends at the alter so this was really a family affair!
