When it came time for Heidi and Alex to choose a venue, the new Atlantans chose Atlanta wedding venue Piedmont Park to host their fall festivities. The couple’s 75 guests gathered for cocktails on the Magnolia Hall patio overlooking the Atlanta skyline before the sunset ceremony on the Piedmont Park grounds. The bride carried an arrangement of richly-hued blooms including garden roses, lisianthus, tulips, heather and scabiosa pods designed by Victory Blooms. Courtney Surber Paz Weddings and Events guided guests to a second cocktail hour after the ‘I do’s’ before entering the hall for a dinner reception. A traditional Iraqi coin scarf dance welcomed the newlyweds to the reception as a nod to the groom’s family heritage. Bold American satisfied the multicultural guests by serving an array of fare including mediterranean and traditional southern dishes. Guests dined at farmhouse style tables draped in gray linens and adorned with eucalyptus garland and gold votive candles. The bride and groom cut into a couple’s cake while guests enjoyed a spread of miniature desserts. Heidi surprised Alex and her brother, who share a birthday the day after the nuptials, with a gourmet ice cream sandwich cart during the late night reception.
