A Destination Wedding at Casa Marina Resort in Key West, Florida
When Catherine and Sean started planning their big day, the windy city dwellers pictured just two things – sand and sun. The destination nuptials took place on a tropical winter day in Key West. Guests joined the happy couple for a wedding weekend in paradise, planned with the helpful guidance of planner Leslie Gilbert of Just Save the Date. The wedding day began with traditional vows at The Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea. Guests waved golden ribbon wands in celebration of the happy couple upon the conclusion of the ceremony. Following the Catholic Mass, guests enjoyed an al fresco cocktail hour complete with passed hors d’oeuvres including tropical favorite coconut shrimp with an orange infused horseradish sauce. The newlyweds joined their guests for a dinner hour reception on the beaches at the iconic Key West wedding venue Casa Marina. The resort’s executive chef, Alex Beaumont, created a menu of opulent pairings to amuse the palette, while the three-tier wedding cake by Key West Cakes satisfied everyone’s sweet tooth. The newlyweds danced to a compilation of their favorite college tunes as guests snacked at a hot dog station–a nod to the Chicago residents’ home city–all while a colorful Florida sunset closed on the elegant beachfront reception. Key West wedding photographer Romi Burianova Wedding Photography caught every joyful moment of the couple’s destination day.
