When I think of Georgia as a whole I tend to think of beautiful mountain landscapes and not pristine coastal locations where lying on the beach is a mainstay. Well, at least that is what I used to think. Georgia may not have prime coastal real estate, but they do have many non-traditional waterfronts like lakes, streams and rivers giving natives and tourists alike some of the most prismatic and peaceful views. So, if you are looking to get married on the water, Georgia has plenty to offer. From the heart of Georgia to the coast, these venues show that you won’t have to travel far to get the venue of your dreams.
Beachview Club Hotel, Jekyll Island: Ever since I’ve moved to Georgia I have dreamed of visiting Jekyll Island and this place reminded me of how beautiful a location it truly is. The Beachview Club is a family-owned, boutique hotel with beautifully appointed rooms with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean along a breathtaking stretch of beach on the Georgia coast.

Lake Lanier Islands Resort, Buford: Lake Lanier is just a short drive away from Atlanta, making it a very appealing wedding venue location for someone like me. Boasting over 20 Georgia wedding locations throughout the 1,500-acre resort for both ceremonies and receptions, Lake Lanier Islands Resort is the ideal place to begin your new life together. Hold sophisticated receptions in one of our grand ballrooms or any of our other unique reception sites.

Sea Island, St. Simons Island: After featuring a wedding on our blog, I knew Sea Island would stay on my list of top venues in the entire state of Georgia. Sea Island offers dream-like settings for unforgettable wedding celebrations. Whether you are planning an intimate gathering of 20 or a large ceremony for 300, Sea Island offers beautiful locations and a complete range of supporting services and amenities. Highlights include intimate outdoor venues on the beach or under our famed oaks trees, custom banquet designs, world-class catering, professional wedding coordinators, five-star resort services, and an onsite wedding chapel reminiscent of a fairytale.

The Resort’s venue spaces (hosting intimate gatherings of 20 to large receptions of 300 people), culinary creations, exceptional amenities, and attentive staff ensure the success of your special day.

Vecoma at the Yellow River, Snellville: Vecoma is Atlanta’s most secluded, charming and distinctive special events venue. Guests enjoy PRIVATE use of the lovely romantic lodge hidden in a 70 acre forest oasis. Included on the RIVERSIDE property is a huge back lawn perfect for large gatherings, ceremonies or games. Vecoma is a family owned business which specializes in the personal touch.

These are five of my fave waterfront venues in Georgia. Do you know of any hidden gems on the waterfront that should make this list?
