When it’s time to hire a florist for your wedding, the floral designer’s style should be the main element to decide on and review during the interview process because not every florist is created equally. They all have different styles.  The wedding florist’s training, personal aesthetic, region of the country, level of experience and pricing will affect how your flowers look at your wedding so spending time getting to know the floral designer you are considering is crucial!

Here are a few questions to ask your wedding florist before you hire them:  What is your style?  What is your process like?  Have you worked at my venue before? How do items (like vessels, vases, and candle holders) get returned after the wedding?  Do you have large rental items like trellis, arbor and hanging centerpieces or will those need to be supplied via an event rental company?  Can my guests take home centerpieces at the end of the wedding?  Will I get to see a design mockup of my wedding flowers? Do you charge extra for the mockup centerpieces or is that included in my total flower cost?

We suggest hiring a wedding florist at least 8 months in advance of your wedding.  While securing the date before another bride isn’t crucial because it’s likely the floral designer can serve multiple weddings in a day, you will want ample time to brainstorm the design of your wedding with your wedding planner and wedding florist.  The more time to devour your favorite wedding magazine and pinterest to find your authentic style, the better!

How much do wedding flowers cost?
Flower pricing is dependent on the amount of decor at your wedding.  You’ll want to budget starting at $1,500 for the basics like bouquets and boutonnieres and then know the sky is truly the limit for the rest.
