Yo Gabba Gabba Birthday Party from Deliciously Darling Events

Today’s real event just screams summer to me. The bright colors, the outdoor setting, the waterworks….the whole shebang. Deliciously Darling’s own Dina Hafez-Suggs sent us this well, darling, party that was actually he own son Jad’s second birthday! Perks of having such a talented mom, right? Based off of the popular kids’ show Yo Gabba Gabba (the birthday boy’s fav), Dina left no detail untouched. From the bunting to the custom water bottles to a sweets bar to end all sweets bars, this is one amazing party! Photography by Lauren Nicole Studios

Tell us about the tablescape design : When I think summer, I think of the sun and the color yellow immediately jumps to mind. I was so lucky to find these yellow and white swirl table clothes at Target. I also found the red and white polka-dot table runner (aka. Wrapping paper) in the dollar section of Target. I just love the dollar section, it’s perfect for parties!!! The ice-cream cups at each place setting was filled with silly bands and play dough and topped with some cool summer sunglasses. My absolute favorite part of the table is the custom paper plates with my son’s face on them! I usual go for simple party plates for parties but these adorable Yo Gabba Gabba plates were just too cute to pass up. I ordered a few extra so I can stick them in my son’s scrapbook. The centerpiece of the table was a toy boom-box with some large balloons. Simple and adorable. Never know what kind of toys your kiddos have in their playroom that would make perfect centerpieces ;).

What about the candy concession stand? I wanted to create a candy buffet that emulated a concession stand at the movie theater. Something a little different from a standard apothecary jar candy display. The kids just loved it! The best boxed candy find was the “Strawberry Milkshake” Whoppers. I literally jumped up and down when I saw these (Very Foofa!). Lollipops, Twizzlers, skittles, mikes & ikes, dots, runts, candy buttons, cotton candy and gumballs completed the Yo Gabba Gabba concession stand. Don’t you just love the gumball containers? A great way to send your little guests home with their very own gumballs.

(Continued): After filling their treat bags with lots of sweets, the children got to pick out their very own Yo Gabba Gabbawater bottle favor. They were just too cute and I couldn’t resist getting them. I painted a set of paper mache stacking boxes in the Gabba character colors and stacked them up. It was a fun and simple way to create a little centerpiece to a table.

In our opinion, the sweets table was a can’t miss. Tell us about it! Welcome to Gabba land! Brobee (the green character) is one of my son’s favorite Gabba friends. I was lucky enough to have a large Brobee toy in our toy room. Mr. Brobee was the perfect backdrop to this fun and super sweet table! 3 8inch cakes were created by Publix (yes, I said it – Publix Bakery!) decorated as Brobee, Muno and Plex. Let me tell you, the cakes were delicious. Each cake was a different flavor and the adults had a blast tasting each flavor! For the kiddos, we served these adorable “milkshake” cupcakes. SO easy to do. I just love the polka-dot straws {from Shop Sweet Lulu}, which added the perfect touch! The kids also enjoyed the cake pops {from Starbucks} and the home-made push-pops. No sweets table can be complete without sugar cookies. These adorable Yo Gabba Gabba cookie pops were made by my cousin Reema and are not only cute but super delicious.

How did you keep the kids entertained? No summer party is complete without some good ol’ water fun! Due to the age range of the children that were attending I wanted to make sure that they would all be able to have fun in the sun. Two smaller inflatable pools were filled and little pool toys and squirt guns were added. The kids had a blast soaking their parents! Children that were 2 and up enjoyed sliding down the 17ft inflatable slide. Little guests enjoyed decorating their very own beach bucket. A variety of metallic stickers, foam stickers and markers allowed the kids to take a break from running around in the sun and to cool off and craft for a bit. I love seeing a new generation of crafters unleash their creativity. This was such a simple and inexpensive activity.

( I mean really, look at that spread!)
