“Wickedly” Fabulous Gold and Green Vendor Appreciation Party
“One short day in the Emerald City!” Well, maybe not literally, but guests certainly got a taste of it at this phenomenal party at Biltmore Ballrooms, hosted by F & G Weddings! To thank the many incredible wedding professionals who partner with them to create the perfect celebrations for their clients, event planner Brian Green and his team throw a yearly vendor appreciation party, giving these talented people the opportunity to be the guests of honor at an event of glitz and glamour! This year’s theme? One of Brian’s favorite Broadway musicals (and mine!) — Wicked. The ballroom screamed of the city of Oz with its rich gold and green decor (Don’t you just love that sparkly green fabric from I Do Linens?!) and magical lighting, tall willow tree shadows scattered along the columns and walls with a giant moon hovering overhead! Following an amazing meal from A Divine Event, partyers enjoyed sweet pops for dessert before burning off the calories on the dance floor! This “wickedly” fabulous celebration was captured by Inije Photography!
Was there a specific theme or style? What inspired it?
I am a HUGE fan of the Broadway musical Wicked – in fact I have seen the production in two different continents and over fifteen times and it never gets old. I decided that this year I wanted to treat my elite vendors to a Wickedly Fabulous Themed event utilizing the magical city of Oz from the production – from the colors to the lighting to the music – it was all Wickedly Fabulous!
What were your playful twists that made the event unique?
For our escort card tables we greeted guests with glasses of champagne with their names and table assignments tagged on each card for a truly fabulous surprise. We dressed up the cocktail hour wait team in t-shirts that listed the menu items of the hors d’oeuvres they were serving – we coined the phrase “living menus” – they were a HUGE hit! We had King of Pops arrive to surprise the guests directly after the entree was cleared to gift the guests with one of 4 amazing flavors chosen for the evening.
Tell us about the food.
The dinner was such an amazing hit! Created by the culinary genius team at A Divine Event: a summer salad of mixed greens, mandarin oranges, strawberries, and sweet & spicy pecans, followed by an entree of braised short ribs with Duchesse potatoes and sauteed Brussels sprouts.
