Our design concept is inspired by a husband throwing an intimate 40th birthday for his wife and close friends. One of her favorite places is Miami Beach, so we wanted to bring an upscale, moody tropic vibe to an urban Atlanta space. Our design goal was to meld the ethereal beauty of the ocean with the wife’s sleek, fresh aesthetic. I knew instantly that Cape Dutch, a gorgeous Atlanta gem would be the perfect venue. The space is filled with meticulous details…from the beautiful architectural finishes to the lighting fixtures and accessories, every inch oozes modern sophistication.
Invitations from Jankun Creative Studio set the perfect vibe and excitement for guests with high contrast black design elements, tropical leaves and geometric accents.
Throughout the design we juxtaposed deep teals and blues with high contrast art deco elements to give guests the feeling of an evening at a chic South Beach resort. Stylish Stems added intriguing layered floral elements, including a canopy of mixed tropical greenery and arrangements of king protea, orchids and pops of brown and gold from foraged magnolia leaves. The tables were beautifully draped with deep ocean velvet runners by Nuage Designs and napkins by Gray Sage Design to give a nod to the striped awnings along Collins Avenue.
Chef Philippe Haddad crafted elegant hors d’oeuvres featuring carpacio with quail egg, black truffle and lobster. Caviar service was the piece de resistance, beautifully presented to create an unforgettable moment. Cakes from Feeling Peckish Catering uniquely incorporated elements of waves, architecture and Miami’s majestic banyan trees, capping off the evening perfectly.
