Always held in the third week of March, the Silent Auction at the DeKalb History Center is an annual fundraising event that raises money to support the History Center’s education programs, and the auction in 2012 was most certainly a great success! Guests arrived at the Old Courthouse, built in the 1800s, and found inside tables adorned with fresh flowers and linens of turquoise and white. The courtroom was lined with tasting stations from Atlanta’s most reputable caterers, including Bold American Events, Sun in My Belly, Avenue Catering Concepts, and Endive, offering sweet and savory fare for all to enjoy. Spectrum Entertainment provided the lighting and music as guests perused the items for sale. The enthusiasm of the mistress of ceremonies, Atlanta actress Widdi Turner, was infectious throughout the auction, and the energy in the courtroom was high as the final frenzied bidding wars drew to a close. Many artists, restaurants, hotels and merchants made donations, and over $8,200 was raised! Images of this event brought to you by Chelsea Patricia Photography!
