All little boys love to pretend they are cowboys growing up but the little one in today’s party was actually able to be one for his 1st birthday. Held at a dude ranch, this party came complete with cowboy hats for everyone, a petting zoo, a train and actual ponies for riding. Giddy up little doggie and take a gander at these fine photos taken by BI Photography Studio.
Can you give us an overview of the event?
For Corin’s first birthday party, his mom knew exactly what she wanted, a fun cowboy party with cute details and lots of activities for the children. We found the perfect venue in Davie Ranch which totally provided the perfect backdrop to the cowboy themed party. The venue provided a lot of the inspiration with a lot of unfinished wood and vintage items staged throughout the ranch. The kids were kept busy with custom cowboy coloring placemats then were invited to the petting zoo with rabbits, piglets, and more. Once they were done with that, they had an opportunity to ride the ponies. The favors were sweet treats from the dessert buffet. Treats included cow shaped cookies, chocolate dipped marshmallows, cake pops, candied apples, rice crispy treats, and milk. At the end of the party, each child was given a cow print treat box to fill with goodies from the dessert buffet.
Was there a specific theme or style?
The party was a cowboy themed party with a red, blue, and brown color scheme. We also incorporated fun prints like bandana and cow print.
What inspired the theme or style?
Corin’s mom thought the cowboy theme would be fun. When she envisioned what the day would like like, she pictured the kids and parents dressed in cowboy hats and boots and having a good time. She really wanted a fun celebration not only for Corin turning one but to celebrate her first year as a mom.
What were your playful twists that made the event unique?
Asking everyone to come dressed in their hat, boots, and country attire made the party unique. We also had hats and bandanas to help accessorize those who didn’t dress up.
Did you DIY any of the details?
Yes, Corin’s mom made the coloring place mats that were placed at each seat with a pack of crayons. The place mat design included Corin’s name and age and farm animals. It was another activity to keep the kids entertained.
Tell us about the food and desserts.
Because of the venue’s availability, we were forced to have the party in the morning from 10:30am-1:30pm. Even though it wasn’t our first choice, we embrace it by having breakfast as a part of the menu. The menu included fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, yogurt, and other goodies. Dessert included cow shaped cookies, chocolate dipped marshmallows, cake pops, candied apples, rice crispy treats, and milk. At the end of the party, each child was given a cow print treat box to fill with goodies from the dessert buffet.
What kind of energy did your entertainment give the guests?
Our entertainment included a petting zoo, trackless train, and pony rides which provided a fun atmosphere. There was always something for everyone to do.
