Ever since I starting working here I have learned new and interesting things about my city and the places surrounding it. While working the Occasions Magazine booth at the Georgia Bridal Show at Cobb Galleria Centre I realized that this convention center has way more to offer than just large scale events. Not so hidden away are ballrooms upon ballrooms for you to choose from for your wedding. And, if you think that because you have your wedding at such a large venue like Cobb Galleria that the food won’t be up to par you are in for a big surprise. Cobb Galleria is working to change the minds of those nay-sayers and consistently producing gourmet food on a mass scale.
Nicholas Walker (pictured below) has been the executive chef at Cobb Galleria Centre since May 2010. He recently held a chef’s table to show off his culinary skills and the menu options available at Cobb Galleria.
As Chef Walker explains each course, guests were treated to the first course of baby artichoke salad with shaved fennel and lemon vinagrette, basil confit and grapefruit which was paired with a fruit-forward Domaine St. Michele Sparkling.
The fourth course, and my personal favorite, was their Galleria Carbonara: handmade pasta with lamb bacon, veal cheeks, quail egg and pecorino cheese. The wine was a Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, the perfect compliment to the meal.
And for the grand finale, the fifth and final course was a mille feuille, a French puff pastry with filling of raspberry and lavender paired perfectly with a Valckenberg Beerenauselese, a German Riesling. This chef’s table shows that large scale venues can create some of the most delectable delights for your next event.
And if you are curious about their ballrooms, Cobb Galleria and Cobb Energy certainly don’t disappoint. The elegant John A. Williams Ballroom at the Cobb Energy Centre is unsurpassed as a classic backdrop for special occasions, from corporate meetings and seminars to glitzy social engagements and black-tie galas. The beautifully decorated reception area is ideal for pre-event socializing, and features floor-to-ceiling windows and an open-air terrace, dazzling your guests with a grand entrée to ballroom events. For a truly theatrical event, the theatre stage (pictured above) is made to impress with intimate, custom-tailored dinners like the one featured at the chef’s table and receptions overlooking the 2,750-seat theatre.
