Anthony + Samantha’s engagement story is what dreams are made of. With eyes to the skies, Anthony pulled out all the stops to surprise his bride-to-be. Hear how Anthony worked with a team of Chicago vendors to make their engagement story memorable.
Anthony has been in love with Samantha since they went on their first date ten years ago, September 2, 2006. High schoolers at the time, the first date was their typical dinner at the Olive Garden and a movie kind of night. Many things may have changed since then, but one thing that hasn’t is his love for Samantha, so when Anthony decided it was time to propose, he wanted wow her and he wanted to do it on that date.
Every step of the way was a surprise.
The evening started with a helicopter tour from Chicago Helicopter Experience. What Samantha thought was just a skyline fly changed mid-flight when the pilot put the city in the rear-view mirror and headed for nearby Homewood, home of Ravisloe Country Club.
After landing on the fairway of the tenth hole at Ravisloe, the two were led to the patio where a table was waiting with glasses of champagne. Soon enough, the country club’s owner Claude Gendreau approached to personally drive the couple to La Voute Bistro ˅ Bar, located inside the La Banque Hotel, a lush boutique 18-room hotel just minutes from the golf course. With the private dining room set for just them, the two enjoyed a fabulous wine pairing meal.
For Samantha, this was just a great way to celebrate their tenth anniversary. After all, it was September 2 and she has grown accustomed to Anthony’s endearing love for her.
After excusing himself for the restroom, Anthony met his server and handed over his phone. “Start the video, wait one minute, then come in the room filming. Stay on us and don’t stop until I ask you to,” Anthony said.
Re-entering the vault, Anthony asked Samantha to grab her things as the car he arranged had arrived to pick them up. As she reached for the roses, Anthony prodded her to peek inside the safety deposit boxes on the decorative side table to see what was inside. By the time she saw the ring that her father had secretly delivered earlier that day, Anthony had dropped to one knee to ask his girlfriend of exactly ten years to become his bride for the rest of forever.
Think that was it? Think again. The car took the two back to the city, delivering them to the London House where she thought they were going for a rooftop celebration toast. Much to her surprise (again), their family and friends were waiting to celebrate with them.
“The tough part was keeping it all a secret from her,” Anthony laughed. “Isha from Chicago Helicopter Experience was fantastic and had the idea of landing at Ravisloe Country Club and dinner at La Voute. The Ravisloe and La Voute managers couldn’t have been more accommodating and excited to be part of this with us. It was all perfect.”
We know you want to know…was Anthony nervous?
“No, just happy,” he says with a grin. “It was a lot for sure, but every second and every penny was worth it. Everything I do is worth it for her.” View a video of the proposal, created by Anthony.
The two have already set a date for their wedding — you guessed it, September 2, 2017.
