When I think back to my older sister’s wedding, one of the things that first comes to my mind is the wedding cake. Not only was it gorgeous to look at, but it tasted absolutely divine. In fact, when guests would speak of the wedding months later, the cake was one of the most popular subjects of discussion! From their variety of amazing designs to their mouthwatering flavors, wedding cakes are a deliciously unique way to impress guests with your celebration’s theme. How do you help a couple choose a design for their wedding cake?
I like to get to know the couple and what their style is. Do they want something modern & fun or timeless & classic? Do they want to pull in their wedding colors? A way to do this is by adding fresh or sugar flowers. Having a topper is another fun way to express their personalities. I always bring my portfolio with previous work for couples to reference for ideas as well.
What are your favorite ways to personalize a cake for the couple?
I really enjoy pulling the design of the dress into the wedding cake. As a bride, you dream of your wedding dress your entire life. Tying in that dream into the cake makes it that more special. This has been a growing trend and pushes me as an artist to think outside the box by creating a custom work of art.
