One of my favorite elements of any party or celebration is the food. Not necessarily the consumption of it, but the presentation of it. You know what they say, “you eat first with your eyes, then with your mouth.” You don’t have to do a lot to add pizzazz to the plate either. I’ve put together a few easy ideas that are timely for Valentine’s Day but would also work well for bridal showers or other wedding related events. These are some of my favorite “extra touches” right now:
Cupcakes and drinks get dressed up when you add these easy diy flags. They are simple to make using wooden skewers or stir sticks, and some pretty scrapbook paper. These would look lovely at each place setting or lined up on a buffet table.
It’s easy to make chocolate garnishes for food and drink, using melted chocolate and a small squirt bottle from the baking supply aisle. After they have set up and hardened you can place them on top of cupcakes or add them to the side of a glass. You can also write on plates with the chocolate. These would be so sweet for bridal showers.
The traditional biscuit cutter has come a long way as you can find so many fun shapes today. To give your brownies, fudge, or sandwiches an extra touch use heart-shaped cutters to punch out shapes for your food trays. This is an easy way to carry out your theme and ‘wow’ your guests. The heart shapes here are beautiful but your options are almost endless.
You can get creative and add your own special touches to food and drink display. I’m convinced it makes it taste better too!
